Use the form below. The fields that make the biggest difference to the accuracy of the first estimate are:

• Your suburb — Ku-ring-gai, Willoughby, Mosman, North Sydney and Lane Cove are five different councils, and the housing stock differs just as much.
• What the room is — main bathroom, ensuite, powder room, laundry, or a combination.
• Roughly how big — even "about 2 metres by 2.4" is enough to place it in a band.
• House or unit — if it is a unit, tell us whether you have spoken to strata yet.
• Like-for-like or a layout change — moving the toilet or the shower is the single biggest driver of cost.
• Photos — if you have them, bring them to the measure. A photo of the existing room is worth several paragraphs of description.

Before you call, one thing worth knowing

The most useful conversation happens after somebody has looked at the room. Phone estimates for bathrooms are close to worthless, because the two things that move the price most — the condition behind the tiles and whether the waste can stay where it is — cannot be seen down a phone line. Anyone who gives you a firm number without visiting is either guessing or planning to vary it later.

The measure takes about half an hour and costs nothing.
